The Superior Crown Sled Dog Series (SCSDS)
Because we are driven by the enrichment, development, and vitality of our communities, natural resources, and trails systems… the Tahquamenon Country Sled Dog Race and The UP200, Midnight Run, and Jack Pine 30 are again teaming-UP with CopperDog to bring you, musher and fan, the triple-event most-adventurous greatest-challenge taking place in all three regions of Superiorland; the SUPERIOR CROWN SLED DOG SERIES!
Mushers must compete in, and complete, three events. They are as follows.
Eastern Region – Newberry (event #1)
10-dog TC10P
Central Region – Marquette (event #2);
12-dog UP200 or 8-dog MNR
Western Region – Calumet (event #3);
10-dog CD150 or 8-dog CD80
The three institutions again have already committed to donating $1,000 each for a purse totaling $3,000 – we will soon post about the rules and point system.
It is also our intent that all participants that complete their three events in the series will receive an unique commemorative patch (see pic below) only available to mushers!! Can you say FINISHER??
As always, because we can’t say this enough; hats off to our communities across the three regions of da Yoop, the fans, the volunteers, the sponsors, the mushers, and the dogs… Without you we are nothing. Again, thank you!
Here is hoping you are as excited as we are about all this!! Make sure to share this spectacular news with friends and family because this coming winter will be one for the books!!
See you down the trail! We absolutely can’t wait!!

UP 200 and Midnight Run - Marquette
First off, congratulations to Rita Wehseler for taking first on the Midnight Run (MNR) and having an amazing race!! Hats off to the other finishers as well!
So with the MNR in the books, we can make a quick post about the Superior Crown Sled Dog Series and how things stand!!!!
We currently have eight mushers in the running for a part in the $3,000 purse!! First-timers will have a chance (if they finish their CopperDog event) to get that most amazing patch! And all finishers will receive the smaller “SCSDS 2025 MUSHER” patch.
Things can still change as these musher still have a chance to switch between the CD150 and the CD80; strategy is at play. But as of now, Lynne and Joann are tied for first with Rita being a really close third!!!

The Tahquamenon County TC10P in Newberry
With the Tahquamenon Country TC10P in Newberry over, we finally have the ‘roster’ of mushers (14 of them) that are eligible to participate in the 2025 ‘Superior Crown Sled Dog Series!!!
We currently have seven mushers (green) signed up for the UP200 -or- MNR in Marquette and CD150 -or- CD80 in Calumet!!
Seven of these 14 mushers still need to make a decision on how bad they want to be part of this most awesome event; three mushers (yellow) would still need to sign up for one more event and four mushers (red) still would need to sign up for two more events!
There is a $3,000 purse to be divvied up between the top three mushers and all finishers will receive the biggest most beautiful patch (seven inches in diameter) the first time they participate with a smaller patch celebrating the year they finished all three events of their choice!
If you know these “yellow” and “red” mushers, make sure they know they have the ability to participate! And there is no cost (ZERO) to be part of it. The only requirement is that you finish the three races you signed up for!
Our three events are driven by the enrichment, development, and vitality of our communities, natural resources, and trails systems. The ‘Superior Crown’ has the mission of celebrating the sport in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and bringing you along for the ride!
Musher, fan, and/or volunteer – join us in making this sled dog series a success!
